Why technical policy outlasts every coach

Coaches, technical directors and players come and go. What stays when someone leaves?

Every club goes through it: a coach or technical director leaves and a large part of the way of working leaves with them. Profiles, scouting criteria, the line in the academy: it lived mostly in people’s heads, not in the club.

Policy is not a document

Technical policy is not the paper that once disappeared into a drawer. It is the set of choices that decides how a club plays, who it recruits, how it develops players and who decides what. It only works when everyone in the organisation knows it and acts on it.

What makes a club stronger

Strong clubs capture their choices in a way that can be executed: a clear football model, position profiles, a fixed scouting workflow and a development pathway that players and staff recognise. Not to make everyone do the same thing, but to have a shared base that new people can build on.

That is the core of our work: policy the club carries, even when people change.
